| reese: Schmögner family of Svedlar | Here is what I have gathered from my elders:
My great-grandmother Pauline Schmögner was born in Svedlar on April 12, 1864, the daughter of Frank Schmögner (a shoemaker) and Katharine (Meckgardi??). She had three sisters and a brother. One brother and sister stayed in Europe, names unknown. One sister married a man named Keill and lived in Brooklyn, NY. Her name might have been Marie or Emma. The other sister might have lived in Philadelphia. Mr. and Mrs. Keill had three sons and two daughters: Fred, Charles, William, Emma, and Anna.
Emma married Casper Oelschlager. Mr. Oelschlager lived in Pittsburgh but traveled to New York City for business. On one of his business trips, he met Emma Keill, and eventually married her and took her to Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh, Emma and Casper lived with his parents.
Their first baby, a son, was born dead. They also had two daughters, Marie and Emma.
Marie Oelschlager grew up to marry a Mr. Hughes. They had two sons before they got a divorce, she took the sons. She then married a barber named Mr. Davis. Mr. Davis was an older man who had children by a previous marriage. At least one child came of this new marriage, Marie Davis.
Marie Davis had at least one child, a son named Richard. She lives (in 1980) at 3560 Poppy Crescent, Virginia Beach, VA, 23456 — definitely a hot lead.
