Sarah G.: Sepos lineage
Hello. My paternal grandfather changed his name to Seamore when he moved here from Germany in the 1940's. He was not of German descent, he was Romanian. It has been said that his surname may have been Sepos. If you have any information on this last name, please let me know via email. Thank you.

Kathleen(Sepos)Tucker: Re: Sepos lineage
hi, sara. my grandfather was alex sepos who came to ithaca, ny, in the early 1900's. his second wife's name was mary, and they were hungarian. it was told to me that when my grandfather came to this country, he came with his brothers. supposedly, there was somekind of family feud, and they all changed their names to-sipos, shiposand shippos. my father, john was born in 1918 in ithaca. he had a brother george, and sisters catherine, laura and ida. they are all deceased. my g'father was a boxer and worked for the railroad. that's about all i know because everybody's gone, now. hey, maybe we're related. good luck in your search. write, sometime. kathy

Grandpa's girl: Re: Sepos lineage
Hi Kathleen! I just stumbled across this site on a whim, and was excited to see your posting. I am missing my grandfather, and curious to locate his family. His parents were George and Agnes (Farkas)Sepos, who my Mom believes were originally from Budapest. They were proprietors of a large restaurant, purported to be a very large business in it's day. My grandfather's name was Peter Sepos. He was born May 9, 1914, in Dayton, OH. He had an older sister named Elizabeth, a younger brother named Joseph, and another younger sister named Helen. My Mom says that their name of Sepos was originally Sipos, but was changed when they came to the U.S. Oddly enough, my Grandpa George worked for the railroad in Bay City, Michigan, where he died while on duty in a train accident. If you have any information on my family, please send it along to me. I am excited that perhaps we have more family. Isn't it wonderful how God puts us in just the right place, in the right frame of mind, at the very moment that He requires us to be? Thanks, and God bless you and your family!

Grandpa's girl: Re: Sepos lineage
Hi Kathy,
I just logged into the forum and noticed your note. I had almost given up that anyone else ever checked it. Since my last message, I've found out that I've listed some incorrect information. My Great-grandfather George Sepos was actually a farmer, living in Linwood, Michigan. He committed suicide on July 7, 1938. I have a copy of his death certificate, on which his birthday is listed as Sept. 3, 1883. Birthplace, Budapest, Hungary. Parents are both listed as unknown, but in an e-mail from my aunt, documentation has been found as follows; Gyorgy (George) Sipos (my great-grandfather) came to the US in 1907, with his wife Agnas Farkas (Farkus). George's parents were
Paul Sipos, and Thresa Szukola. Agnas' parents were
Carl Farkas (Farkus) and Elizabeth Sakoski. They were
Magyar, Hungarian's. (I assume this is a locality? I am unsure of what my Aunt meant.)Their port of departure was
Triest, Austria, Hungary. Does any of this line up with the information you have about your family?
