I am trying to find any information or mebers of the Simko family in Satoraljaujhely,Zemplin province.
My husband's grandmother was Julianna Simko who married Gyula Klavinovszky in the Greek Orthodox church in U'hely in 1894.
They had 4 children whose birth dates I don't know except my mother-in-laws.
They were Josef,Margit,Geza and Anna Klavinovszky,Anna was born in 1906 October 17th in U'Hely.
Julianna was born about 1875 as she was 24 in 1894.

I would love to hear from any who are related to or know anything of these families
regards Moonglow

kis_zoli84: Simkó
Hi there,

I have a connection to the Simkó surname. My great great grandparents were Simkó Katalin and her husband Briczky János. They lived in Sátoraljaújhely: I dont know when Katalin was born but her husband was born in 1861.

As the dates are approximately the same and they were from Újhely there could be some connection. If you need anymore information please let me know.

Thank you for replying.I had given up any hope of ever hearing anything back.If you have any further information I would love to hear.I have looked all through the Mormon records and can find no record of Julianna's birth so thus have no parents for her. There are many Simko's though.
If you feel comfortable to send me your email adress I have a photo of Julianna I could send.Do you have any photos at all?
Are you living in Hungary? We live in Australia.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.Regards Moonglow

Hey there,
Yeah there are many Simko's but you can almost be sure that if they were from Ujhely and they had the same surname around the same name, that they were highly likely that they were related at some point. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos yet but am happy to exchange information.

The Simkó Katalin I have mentioned had a husband named Briczky János. They lived in Sátoraljaújhely but could possibly have met (or evel lived at some point) in Szegilong as János was born in Szegilong. However, I also know that they had a massive estate in Nagyberezna which was part of the Kingdom of Hungary but is now in Modern Ukraine. This is where my our name was eventually changed to Bereznai (meaning of Berezna was used to be known as Nagyberezna - but thats a little side info)

Send me some photos if you can and tell me what you know, somehow we will get to the bottom of this. I am sort of a semi-professional genealogist as I have been doing Hungarian genealogy a long time but never been down the path of the Simkó as Simkó Katalin is my great-great-grandmother.

Btw, I also live in Australia. Brisbane, Queensland to be precise :)

Udv.

Hi!
My grandfather's mother was also a Simkó. Erzsébet was born in Sátoraljaújhely in 1899. Her parents were Simkó István and Meczó Erzsébet but I don't know when they were born or died..
As I see there were a lot of Simkó in Sátoraljaújhely - maybe they were all relatives or at least they knew each other..

moonglow: Re: Simkó
I guess they were related. Was your Erzsebet Roman Catholic or Orthodox?
By the date Erzsebet was a later generation than Juliana.
Could be a niece thus a cousin of my husband's mother. She was born in 1906.

I'm not quite sure but my grandpa was Roman Catholic so Erzsebet was Catholic too, I guess. In those times there weren't so many mixed marriages..

peter: Klavinovszky family
Hi,

I'am dr.Antal Peter from HUNGARY.:)
My grandmother was Klavinovszky Marica (Jolán)
The Klawinowski name orgin polish name form Lemberg (Lvov) area. But one of the Klawinowski families moved to Sátorljaújhely, and changed the name for hungarian version: Klavinoszky.
My Grandmother's father was Klavinovszky József. I think he was a son of Klavinovszky Gyula and Simkó Julianna. József had a son Klavinovszky Gyula, and a daughter Klavinovszky Marica (Jolan). My grandmother Marica (Jolan)maried with Hancsarik Gyula (my grandfather) in Satoraljaúhely, and they moved to Miskolc. They are two children. Hancsarik Marianna, my mother, and Hancsarik József my godfather.
Now only two living people have a Klavinovszky surname, all over the world! They are Klavinovszky Mónika and Klavinovszky Ildikó, my mother cousins. They are daughters of Klavinovszky Gyula, who is my grandmother's brother.
My mother (Hancsárik Marianna)and my father (Anta László) moved to Székesehérvár from Miskolc in the 70's. Now we live near to Budapest and in the Budapest area. We are four brothers. (László, Ádám, Péter, Balázs)

peter: Re: Klavinovszky family
I just read back my note and find a mistake: my father surname really: Antal, not "Anta", so I lost an "l".

Otherwise, I'm on the facebook:
