| amyamybobamy: Seeking Stern Connection | I'm seeking historical Stern and Weisz relations from town of Ujhely. The place names were given as: Kisz, Ujhely, Niz Nighella (Nizny Gela?), Voslusla, Kis.
Brothers Herman/Armin Weisz and Joseph Weisz, born around 1850, had businesses in Prievidza. Herman's business was dry goods for consumers, Joseph's was construction materials. Herman married Helene Stern (whose brother was Julius/Eugene), and she was probably from UJHELY. Julius later married Gisella/Czilli Biel, and they moved to the Unites States, but they had no children.
I believe that the father of JULIUS and HELEN may have been RUDOLPH
Julius and Gisella moved early to the United States, and all who moved to the United States lived in New York City.
Herman had several children, most of whom emigrated to the United States around 1910: Gustave (b. 1881); Ferdinand (b. 1891); Pishtah; Geza; Olga; Sandor; Eva; Vojtech/Bela (b. 1887); and Yozha.
Gustave married Minna and remained in the United States; Sandor married Jeanette and also remained in the United States. Vojtech/Bela had married Rene in Czechoslovakia and arrived with his children Edith and Kornel, and they also remained in the United States. Ferdinand RETURNED to Prievidza, and he perished in the Shoah along with his wife Helene (b. 1891 in Trnava) and children Olga (b. 1919 Budapest) and Johann (b. 1921 Kremnica), who were transported from Prievidza and murdered in Auschwitz in April, 1942.
If any of these family names look familiar to you, I would be interested in sharing information!
