nancylee: MIHALY STERNTHAL

I am researching my great grandfather, Mihaly Sternthal, born December 24, 1881. He came to the U.S. approx. 1907. His residence has been listed as Bordas, or Bashordas. His wife, the former Anna Knebel and two children also emigrated from Hungary. In 1914, they returned for a visit, so there must have been other family members left behind.

I would welcome any possible information about other relatives.

Start with Ellis Island website. There were 19 STERNTHALs that passed thru Ellis Island. It seems like several of them were from Bacsordas.
This village is now in Yugoslavia and called Karavukovo.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing some church records. You can order the films and gather ancestral information off of them.

Hi!
My Great-Grandfather left Hungary for working in Austrian in the early 1900 years. He came from the region of Batschka.
His son Heinrich Sternthal, who is my grandfahther, lifed in Knittelfeld, Styria, Austria. There my family still lives.
