	Stef: Surname Szefcsik I have recently had my Slovakia ancestors, as well as family still living there researched. A dream come true for me! There were a couple different spellings for my father's family surname. Years ago it was SEVCSIK, presently spelled SEVCIK in Slovakia. The village name is GERLACHOV in SARIS COUNTY, Slovak Republic. When my grandparents emigrated to the USA (PA) in 1907 they Americanized the name to be spelled as SEFCHICK. The HUNGARIAN spelling for surname SEVCIK is presently spelled as SZEFCSIK. I was just curious if I have any family left in Hungary. When I had my Slovakia research done, it was only limited to Slovakia as that country is "the root" of my father's ancestry. I was told that years ago I did have family in Hungary as well as other countries. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please e-mail me at... 	STEF: SURNAMES SEVCSIK and SEVCIK Hello from USA! I'm updating an earlier post because I JUST received more VALID information. My previous post on this site was done on July 28, 2003 regarding surname SZEFCSIK. It has been brought to my attention that I DO have family in the BUDAPEST area, possible other areas also, who PRESENTLY use the surnames SEVCSIK and SEVCIK. I was SO surprised! As I have said in my previos post, my family "roots" using BOTH of these surnames is a small village in the SLOVAK REPUBLIC named GERLACHOV in SARIS COUNTY. 	Evelyne: SEFCSIK Family I am interested in genealogy and I would be grateful if somebody could give me information about SEFCSIK family. My children'grand father, Joseph SEFCSIK was born in Budapest around 1910. He met my husband's mother in France; unfortunately, he died in June 1943, a few days after his son was born (I don't know in which country, France or Hungary?). I think he had brothers; one of them moved to America. Many thanks in advance for your assistance. Sorry, but I don't speak English well. 	msefsik: Looking for information on Szefcsik family Hello, I am looking for information on siblings or parents of Stephan(Istvan)Szefcsik who was born on April 17, 1870 in Keczel, Hungary. He married Anna (maiden name unknown) on August 10, 1898 in Budapest Hungary. Anna's birthdate was August 26, 1882 in Vesprem Hungary. They had 6 children (3 born in Hungary, Margaret 1899, Stephan 1907,Aranka(Glady's)1910). The family migrated to the US in 1913 and changed the family name spelling to Sefsik sometime after 1930. I have limited records here in the US and I was wondering if anyone had any information on them. 	SefsikGrGrandaughter: Josef, Anna, Stephan Sefsik family My late father was Stephen R. Sefsik of NY, son of Stephan Sefsik, whose family immigrated from Budapest in 1913. I believe my grand father mentioned his Mother's name was Anna, and Josef was also mentioned. My grandfather married Margaret Kisch. They lived in the hungarian tenament in Hell's Kitchen before moving to CT. They raised my father, and his younger brother Peter Sefsik, who still resides in Connecticut. I live in Nashville, TN. His father Stephan Sefsik, whose family immigrated from Budapest. I remember him speaking of the names Anna, Josef, and the name change when their family immigrated to this country. My uncle is Peter Sefsik of CT. I have two brothers, one in TN, the other in NC. We are all the remaining relatives in the family. 	donnars11: SCHUMMER Peter Schummer arrived in NYC from Tolvadia with his wife Barbara and 2 sons Frank & Andreas in April, 1903. His 3 older children, Nick, Jacob & Katherine came a year before. We're pretty sure that Peter was married once before to a Suzanna Miller. We're not sure which kids belong to which mother. I need to access birth, marriage even death records in that town. Church baptismal records from the catholic church (I beleive is HI Jungfrau Katharina.). Is this possible since this place is now in Romania? How do I go about getting these records.
