| Vivien Santer: Szente and Barkanyi families | I am looking for any information about the ancestry of the Szente, Barkanyi, Ledig or Stern families, and about any members of the Szente or Barkanyi families who migrated to the United States or the United Kingdom.
Dr Lajos Szente married Margit Barkanyi (nickname Csinti), had sons Andor (nickname Bandi, born 1910) and Laszlo (nickname Laci, born 1914). Andor married Zsuzsana Strehlinger, had a daughter, died in a labour camp 1945.
Laszlo left Hungary 1938, spent a yaear in London, and migrated to Australia 1939. Lajos and Margit migrated to Australia 1946, and died in 1950 (Lajos) and 1963 (Margit).
Laszlo married Edith Bedford Bowden 1941, and took Australian citizenship under the name Lesly Santer.
Laszlo and Edith had daughter Vivien Bedford (born 1949) and son Gregory James Bedford (born 1955).
Margit Barkany was the daughter of Sarlotta Ledig and Leo Barkanyi, and had a sister Julko. Julko married Robert Bencze.
Lajos Szente's mother's surname was Stern, and he had siblings Elener, Izsabel, Jeno, Izidor, Edmond, Regina and Franzcisca.
Robert Bencze, Lajos Szente and Andor Szente had a patent attorney practice in Budapest up to the early 1940s.
Many family members died during the Holocaust, or left Hungary, eg Jeno moved to France and served in the Resistance.
