I am of Cyganek descent in America. My Great grandfather was Stanley Cyganek who emmigrated to America sometime between 1893 and 1895. I am responding because my Cyganek family is of Polish/Prussian descent. It is rumored that we were a band of gypsies, cygan in polish is translated as "wanderer, or gypsy". I have not found any Magyar connections in my research, but then, my research is not to extensive as of yet.

The meaning is the same in Slovak language, gypsy aka "roma". A spelling CIGANEK lists in Slovak Republic's phone book www.zoznamst.sk
I would think that Magyar spelling would be CZIGANEK and there were 25 people with that surname that passed thru Ellis Island.
In 1990 in Poland there was 1 CIGANEK, 1871 CYGANEKs.
www.herby.com.pl/herby but only in Polish
The word could also mean a liar, cheat.

I am from Poland.
In polish language the world Cygan means : Gypsy (man),
Cyganka : Gypsy (woman) , Cyganek or Cyganiak (this last popular) a little or young boy of gypsy nationality.
It is common knowledge that Gypsies untill first years after II World War traveled across all Europe - from Romania, Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia, Russia, Poland to West Europe.
In Poland near Gdansk (Danzig) ,untill last war in Germany ,is village Cyganek (county Nowy Dwór Gdanski).

My husband is a Cyganek, you say you are from Poland, is this a common name? I know my husbands father Jerzy was born in Warsaw and came to the States via the Uk in the early 50's. He died before meeting his son and so we know nothing of his family.
